Sleek or D180: how to choose the security door that’s right for you

Sleek and D180 share a rare innovation: 180° opening, concealed hinges and leaf/frame coplanarity in the same product. The Sleek is a flush-wall door that blends into the architecture, available up to 1,200 x 2,850 mm, with 41 dB of acoustic insulation and a transmittance of 1.5 W/m²K. The D180, the premium evolution of the Compact line, offers a frame-flush design, up to 47 dB and a transmittance of 1.3 W/m²K. Two philosophies, one vision: security without compromise.

Sleek or D180: how to choose the security door that’s right for you

Sleek and D180 share features that few security doors in the world can boast: opening to 180° with concealed hinges, flush door/frame alignment and double rebate in the same product. Not just a technical detail, an engineering achievement.

The two doors, however, tell very different stories. Figuring out which one suits your project isn’t just a matter of taste, but also one of vision.

Flush with the wall or flush with the frame: the starting point

Sleek embodies the flush-to-the-wall door in its purest form. The frame disappears into the wall, the door leaf becomes flush with the surface, and the entrance is transformed. Sleek can become invisible, an integral part of the architecture, or it can stand out boldly as an element characterising a room. In either case, there is no visible frame: the wall and the door are one and the same.

D180 goes by a different, equally refined, road. The door leaf is flush with the frame on the inside, and the frame remains visible, it does not hide. It is a minimalist, understated design that does not seek to disappear but chooses to express its presence with simplicity and elegance.

This difference is not merely aesthetic. It determines the installation context, the type of structural work required, and the overall ambition of the project.

Prestige or Compact: two design philosophies

Sleek belongs to the Prestige range: it is designed for an entrance where quality admits no compromises and every detail must be on a par with everything else.
D180 is the premium evolution of our Compact range: with its one-piece, double-sheet metal body,
it ensures strength and performance in a slender profile.

Two distinct construction philosophies, both driven by the same commitment to excellence.

Dimensions: the right door for the space you envision

Macron 5.0, the patented hinge inspired by airplane doors, enables Sleek to reach dimensions of 1,200 x 2,850 mm. These dimensions transform a door into a work of architecture, making the entrance into a statement.

D180 makes optimum use of the standard and medium-to-large dimensions typical of contemporary homes, which, in everyday life, are found in a vast majority of entrances. This is not a concession: it is a deliberate design choice, which enables the door to showcase its structural qualities precisely in the context for which it was conceived.

Thermal and acoustic properties: a balance you can choose

Sleek offers as standard a sound insulation of 41 dB, which can be increased to 45 dB. This level makes it particularly suitable for urban contexts where noise is a structural part of day-to-day life. In terms of thermal performance, it starts with a U-value of 1.5 W/m²K that places it well above the threshold for comfortable living.

The D180 offers sound insulation starting at 38 dB, which can be increased to 47 dB. In terms of thermal performance, it reveals one of its most distinctive qualities: with a U-value starting at 1.3 W/m²K, it becomes an even more effective barrier against heat loss.

In either case, we are talking about performance levels that exceed market standards by far.

Hardware and passive security: customised engineering

The hardware components also reflect this dual design approach. Sleek has 4 fixed SLEEK-type bolts fitted to the hinge side, which, when the door is closed, engage with corresponding holes in the frame, preventing forced entry and protecting the door against tearing under pressure. Two lock-controlled hook deviators engage with the frame and, by rotating 90 degrees in parallel, securely anchor and lock the door in place.

D180 adopts the same logic with equal precision: four fixed D180-type bolts on the hinge side, using the same principle of engagement with the frame, are complemented by an upper rod and a lower hook deviator. Both elements, controlled by the lock, engage with the frame and anchor the door with structural rigidity.

Two systems differing in design but sharing the same goal: to make the door secure.

The right choice is the one that fits your project

Sleek and D180 are not measured on a scale of value: they are measured against different design projects. Sleek is the door for those who are reinventing a space from the ground up and seek extraordinary dimensions, performance and architectural impact.
D180 is the door for those looking for contemporary design, outstanding performance across the board, and a sturdy construction that leaves nothing to chance.

They bear the same signature and share the same vision: building a door that makes no compromises on security, at any point in its structure
